Square Feet (sq ft)

The standard US unit for interior space, real estate listings, and construction materials. 1 sq ft = 144 sq in.

Square Meters (m²)

The SI unit, used worldwide except in the US. Standard for international real estate, scientific measurement, and product specifications.

Square Yards (sq yd)

Common for carpet pricing in the US. 1 sq yd = 9 sq ft. Sometimes called "yardage."

Acres

US imperial unit for land area. 1 acre = 43,560 sq ft. Historically the area one ox could plow in a day; still standard for US real estate lots.

Hectares (ha)

Metric unit for land. 1 ha = 10,000 m² ≈ 2.471 acres. Standard in agriculture, forestry, and international real estate.
